Inspired by Rumi’s third field 🌾
After our most recent three-day convening of 200 leaders, my client pulled me aside in the lobby, smiling quietly.
“You know what?” he said. “This place makes us feel at home.”
At first, I thought he meant the décor, the natural lighting, the way the staff remembers names, the soft hum of hospitality.
“Thank you,” I said. “Yes, it’s homey.”
He paused, then shook his head.
“No. It’s not homey. It’s that we are at home.”
That distinction stopped me. It was a small correction, but it carried a truth I could feel in my chest.

Rumi once wrote:
“Beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
